Fall/Winter Wardrobe Shopping List
We’ve been officially in Fall for a few weeks now and as is typical for sunny SoCal it’s still quite warm over here. As I await the cooler weather I’ve been shopping for a few items to add to my wardrobe with the help of my Pinterest boards. When I pin images, I do it quickly and don’t really think too much about it, just whatever I’m instinctively drawn to, and so it’s interesting to go back and take a closer look at what I’ve pinned and take notice of similarities among my pins. I’ve used those similarities as cues to zone in on my style and come up with a list of what pieces I want to add to my wardrobe. I’ve found that by focusing my shopping with a list, I’m less likely to get overwhelmed and frustrated and less likely to be tempted to buy things I’ll hardly wear and I’ll eventually have to get rid of because they’ve become clutter in my closet.
I haven’t really shopped for myself in awhile so my list includes classics that I’ve been needing to either add or update. Here’s part of my ‘To Buy’ list (I’ll share the other part tomorrow!):
A classic trench coat
Black skinnies (any recommendations for a flattering pair?)
Grey skinnies
A colorful printed scarf or two
Thin solid sweaters in neutral colors
A leopard scarf
Lots of cozy and chunky sweaters
Flat riding boots -any recommendations? I’m looking for a pair that is high quality, comfortable, and fits my thin calves (I hate when there’s a huge gap). Currently considering these, these, and these.
So far I’ve crossed off classic trench and colorful scarf off my list with this and this.

What pieces have you recently added or plan to your wardrobe? Do you make a list of what you want you want to look for before you go shopping?
Picks from Zara Home
Back when I was studying abroad in Spain, I remember walking into a Zara Home store and feeling like a kid in a candy store. There were so many lovely decor items everywhere I turned. I was sad to find out though that there were no Zara Home locations in the US, and while that’s still the case, as of this month the line is now available online. I browsed the selection this morning, and found several great trays, boxes, bins and baskets for beautifully organizing the home:
1-phoebe wardrobe box, 2-beny tray, 3-nadia baskets, 4-rato tray, 5-frank tray, 6-lilli box, 7-ludwig baskets, 8-jens basket, 9-zafit tray, 10-jack box, 11-lisbeth basket

How Stephanie Organizes Her Handbags
Today we have blogger Stephanie Fisher of Glitter and Goat Cheese participating in the How I Organize series. She gives us a look at how she organizes her fabulous handbags:
I have to admit – I’ve always been the walk-in-and-throw-everything-on-the-floor type. My poor purses used to find themselves discarded on the floor on a daily basis. But when I became the proud owner of a chew-happy puppy with a penchant for raiding my bags, I knew it was time to find a better solution.
We rent a home without many built-in hanging solutions, so we utilize these over-the-door racks in several rooms. This particular one used to hold towels in our guest bathroom, but now it hangs in my office and is the home for my most-used handbags. (As you can probably tell – I have a bit of thing for black, gold and sequins.) The office is close to the front door, so it’s a quick, convenient spot to unload my purse before I head in to greet my puppy. Plus, I love that my favorite bags are on display instead of hidden in a closet!
Short on Space?
Do like Kelly and use a hanging organizer like this one:
The pockets are a good size for jewelry and other small accessories and they’re clear so you can quickly see what you have. Overall it takes up little room – perfect for small spaces!

Beautifully Organized Space: Accessories Closet
Check out this accessories closet:
Beautifully organized by Flavia of Lulu Abroad, who lined up her shoes on shelves by type, hung belts on a row of hooks, used frames for sunglasses and jewelry, and cubbies for handbags.
Photo Labeled Hat Boxes
Photos are a great way to label the contents of a box. We’ve seen them used for organizing shoes, and this lovely example from Elsie of A Beautiful Mess shows them used for organizing hats:

p.s. find out how she DIY’d her boxes here!

Open Clothes Rack
A fun idea for clothing storage is utilizing an open rack. It could be a nice spot for organizing outfits for the week or for an edited selection of favorite pieces that also serve as eye candy. A little inspiration…
Find garment racks at stores like Ikea, Linens-N-Things, and the Container Store

Stylish {Shoe} Storage: Display Cases
I love when pieces of furniture are used in a creative way. These glass front display cabinets are no exception. They work so beautifully as shoe organizers:

A creative way to house a wardrobe, this DIY cabana closet was made by repurposing a bakers rack and sewing a custom cover using inexpensive striped fabric. Looks pretty great don’t you think?
